Dangerous trend on TikTok: how apricot kernels can lead to death.
A dangerous trend is spreading on TikTok, advising to fight acne with apricot kernels that contain deadly cyanide.
According to the publication Express, videos where this 'hospital' recommendation has gained many views and likes are becoming popular on the social network. The author of the video claims that thanks to consuming apricot kernels, she has had clear skin since childhood. However, doctors warn that this is dangerous.
Doctor warns about risks
Expert Neil Patel from LloydsPharmacy Online Doctor explained: 'Apricot kernels contain amygdalin, which converts into cyanide, a poison that prevents the body from using oxygen.' The doctor urged caution with TikTok skincare trends, as they can be dangerous.
According to research conducted on patients interested in using apricot kernels, there is no evidence of their effectiveness against acne. Therefore, it is always worth checking advice from specialists before trying to treat the skin with apricots.
In such a sensitive topic as skincare, it is important to trust medical research and professional recommendations. Attempts to use extreme methods can lead to serious health problems, so one should be cautious and not take risks without proper consultation.
