Ukraine – a global leader in titanium reserves: where the richest deposits are located.
Ukraine has large titanium reserves
Titanium is a key metal of modernity, used in many industries, particularly in high technologies, defense, aviation, and space. Ukraine has significant reserves of this strategic resource.
'Ukraine is a major producer of titanium in the global market, ranking eighth in ilmenite reserves – the mineral from which titanium is extracted. This accounts for 20% of all global reserves. Only Ukraine, China, and the USA have a full cycle of titanium rolling production', noted expert Andriy Vilnenko.
Where Ukrainians extract titanium
Ukraine has 40 titanium deposits, 12 of which are already actively used. According to the data from the Ukraine Mining Industry Data Portal, the reserves in different regions are as follows:
- Zhytomyr region - 0.22 billion tons;
- Dnipropetrovsk region - 0.10 billion tons.
The Irshansk and Vilnohirsk mining and processing plants are already extracting titanium (ilmenite) ores in Zhytomyr and Dnipropetrovsk regions, respectively.
The main titanium deposits in Ukraine are located in Malyshevskyi (Dnipropetrovsk region), Irshansk and Stremyhorodskyi (Zhytomyr region). Their reserves of this metal are impressive.
Earlier, the Tarasivske titanium deposit and the Irshanske deposit were also mentioned.
Summary: Ukraine has large titanium reserves located in various regions of the country. This strategic metal is widely used in the global industry, and the high volumes of titanium extraction in Ukraine allow the country to occupy an important position in the global market.Read also
