Tottenham blocked the call-up of Dragusin: why Romania agreed.
According to The Sun: Tottenham persuaded Romania not to call up Radu Dragusin, despite their chances of qualifying for the World Cup being in jeopardy.
The 23-year-old defender was included in the preliminary squad of the national team of Romania for international matches in October.
Radu Dragusin injured his anterior cruciate ligament in January PA ReutersHowever, Romania agreed not to include him in the main squad as he is still recovering from a serious knee injury.
Dragusin injured his anterior cruciate ligament in January and has not played since, but he has recently returned to training.
Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank expressed hope in August that the former Genoa player would be able to play 'in a few months,' emphasizing a cautious approach to his return.
Romania will play a friendly match against Moldova next month, after which there will be an important qualifying match at home against Austria.
If the Romanian team loses to Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina wins against Cyprus, they will not be able to qualify for the summer finals.
Dragusin had to learn to walk again after surgery on his right knee.
Last month he spoke about his recovery in an interview with the Tottenham media team.
“I think it really changed how I see everything in football.”
