Family Seeks Answers
Marília's family, devastated by her loss, demands an investigation into the circumstances of her death.
Her sister, Lea Carolina, who accompanied her to the clinic along with their father, states that Marília was healthy and underwent all necessary examinations before the surgery.
“I heard the nurse urgently call for an ambulance when my sister began her surgery,” says Lea.
“I entered the operating room and saw the doctor trying to resuscitate my sister.”
After confirming her death, the doctor informed the family of cardiac arrest as a possible cause. However, the autopsy conducted the next day revealed that the cause of death was hypovolemic shock due to internal bleeding.
Further Investigations
Relatives insist that Marília was completely healthy and underwent all examinations before the surgery. They are waiting for answers from the clinic in Rio de Janeiro.
“My sister was full of life,” said Lea. “I took her to fulfill a dream, and instead, she met death.”
Marília planned to undergo a routine procedure that included liposuction of the back and fat grafting to the buttocks. She had paid for this operation herself as part of her birthday celebration.
The AMACOR clinic, where the surgery took place, issued a statement saying that “AMACOR is classified as a day hospital, and its surgical center operates as a facility rented by independent medical teams to perform procedures.”
