Disturbing footage shows a 23-year-old woman in a Zeppedi uniform approaching her murderer on a train in Charlotte, moments before and after the attack.

Her killer, 34-year-old Dekarlos Brown Jr., sat in a seat behind her until he pulled out a knife and attacked her.

Brown was arrested and charged with first-degree murder due to Zarutskaya's death, making him a potential candidate for the death penalty.

Family Reaction

Zarutskaya's boyfriend, Stanislav 'Stas' Nikulitskiy, 21, publicly expressed his pain and anger over this horrific murder.

On Wednesday he posted a photo of him and Irina in swimsuits by the lake, captioned with a simple broken heart emoji.

He also changed his bio, adding a mushroom emoji — Zarutskaya's favorite icon — next to the broken heart.

Nikulitskiy is described as Zarutskaya's 'life partner' in her obituary, which noted that the couple had lived together in Charlotte for a year.

He expressed his anger at magistrate judge Teresa Stokes, who released Brown on bail just 7 months before the attack.

Nikulitskiy reposted stories on Instagram, accusing Stokes of unprofessionalism and condemning the judicial system for releasing violent offenders.

“In Charlotte, North Carolina, we saw the consequences of these policies when a 23-year-old woman who arrived here from Ukraine met her bloody end on a public train,” said Trump.

The Zarutskaya case raised debates on cashless bail policies, as questions arise on how Brown, a person with a history of violent crimes, was allowed to roam the streets freely.

Trump also criticized cashless bail programs that allow some suspects to go free without posting bail while awaiting trial.
