Trump announced new negotiations with Russia regarding Ukraine in Saudi Arabia and called for a meeting between Zelensky and Putin.
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his opinion on the war in Ukraine and announced a new round of negotiations between the U.S. and Russia, which will take place next Tuesday in Saudi Arabia.
During the swearing-in ceremony of the new Secretary of Commerce, Trump stated the need for a personal meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia.
'I think that President Putin and President Zelensky should meet together because we want to stop the killing of millions of people and young soldiers,' Trump said. He also emphasized the need for compensation for American military aid to Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine should make a deal with the U.S. regarding the extraction of minerals and pay the U.S. 400-500 billion dollars. 'Ukraine either signs a mineral deal with the U.S. or will have problems,' warned the U.S. President.
It is worth noting that President Zelensky previously rejected U.S. demands for compensation of 500 billion dollars for military aid, which amounts to 67 billion dollars for weapons and 31.5 billion dollars in direct budget support.
Separately, Trump denied the information from the French publication Le Point regarding his possible visit to Moscow on May 9, replying briefly: 'No, I'm not going.'
Recall that Zelensky commented on the work on the agreement with the U.S. regarding minerals and spoke about a series of negotiations.
