According to the expert, Trump hopes for significant geopolitical concessions from Putin and keeps a window open for possible agreements in various areas. By employing such tactics, he attempts to pressure the Russian leader through diplomacy rather than force.According to FREEДOM: 'Trump wants to leave room for maneuver for the Russian dictator. He understands that if he starts introducing additional restrictions now, there will be no turning back. He needs to 'mature' to make a decision regarding secondary sanctions against the Russian Federation,' Zelykhovsky explained.
The specialist believes that Trump will soon have to change his policy regarding sanctions against Russia to accelerate the peace process in Ukraine, which is a priority for him. As a result, the expert calls for careful monitoring of the dynamics of relations between the U.S. and Russia, as the imposition of new sanctions may be only a matter of time in order to achieve important agreements and bring peace to Eastern Ukraine.'This is the only way to influence Putin. But so far, Washington has not yet made a final decision. The coming days or weeks will show in which direction this entire process will move,' Zelykhovsky added.
