Trump Cancels Summit with Putin in Budapest: Names Reason.
According to inkorr.com: U.S. President Donald Trump announced during a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at the White House on November 7 that the summit with the Russian leader in Budapest would not take place due to differences in Moscow's stance on the war in Ukraine.
'They [the Russians] still do not want to stop. But, I think, eventually they will stop,' Trump told reporters, adding that the chance for a meeting with Putin still exists.
Trump also discussed with Orban the issue of sanctions against Russia and the possibility of granting Hungary an exemption for purchasing Russian oil due to the difficult energy situation in the country.
'It is very hard for them to get oil and gas from other regions. As you know, they do not have access to the sea, ports, so they are in a tough situation. By the way, there is another country with the same problem. But when you look at Europe, many countries do not have these problems, yet they buy a lot of oil and gas from Russia,' Trump explained.
Thus, Trump emphasized the impossibility of holding a summit with Putin due to differences in views on the conflict in Ukraine. He is also considering the possibility of granting Hungary an exemption from sanctions for purchasing Russian oil, taking into account the difficult energy situation in the country.
These events are taking place against the backdrop of increasing demands in Europe to ensure energy security and reduce dependence on Russian energy resources. Hungary, facing timely economic challenges, seeks to find a balance between international sanctions and its own energy needs.
