Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated that the newly elected US President Donald Trump impresses world leaders who have unchecked power, such as the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
'The way he talked about Putin, the way he talked about the North Korean [leader] — obviously, apart from the critical remarks he made — there was always a kind of fascination with the very power of what these people could do,' Merkel said in an interview with Christiane Amanpour of CNN, as reported by ZN.UA.
Merkel also noted that Trump, in her opinion, had a desire to have an administration without 'burdens.'
'I always had the impression that he dreamed of actually abolishing, possibly, all those parliamentary bodies that he thought were burdensome for him, and that he wanted to make decisions on his own,' Merkel added.
