According to Espreso.tv: Against the backdrop of renewed tensions between Washington and Tehran, Donald Trump has urged Republican lawmakers to add Iran to a sanctions bill targeting Russia. This appeal has gained attention following recent developments in the region.

Memorandum Signing and Regional Friction

On June 18, Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending hostilities. The agreement included:

• a reduction in economic sanctions,
• the unfreezing of assets worth tens of billions of dollars,
• and the lifting of a naval blockade on Iranian ports.

Nevertheless, the situation remained volatile. On May 26, Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused the United States of violating the ceasefire, highlighting the fragile nature of bilateral relations. Later, on July 7, the U.S. deployed naval kamikaze drones for the first time in response to fresh attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. These incidents underscore mounting tensions that, according to Trump, justify including Iran in the sanctions legislation aimed at Russia.

“Republicans must add Iran to the Sanctions Bill against Russia,” Trump stated, emphasizing his stance amid global geopolitical challenges.
