Trump suspends contacts with Iran: The US is scaling back diplomacy due to protests.
Suspension of US contacts with Iran
According to ТСН: US President Donald Trump announced the suspension of diplomatic relations with Iran in response to the brutal actions of the authorities against anti-government protesters.
In his statement published on the social network Truth Social, Trump strongly condemned the actions of the Iranian authorities, urging "Iranian patriots, keep protesting - seize your institutions!" and emphasized the need to document the actions of the security forces. He assured that "responsibility is inevitable".
"Remember the names of the murderers and the violent. They will pay a high price," the US president stressed.
Trump also announced that Washington is halting all contacts with Iranian officials until the violence stops. "I canceled all meetings with Iranian officials until the senseless killings of protesters cease," he noted.
The US president added that measures to support the protest movement are already in the works. "Help is on the way. MIGA!" Trump wrote. The acronym MIGA stands for Make Iran Great Again, which is a variation of his famous slogan Make America Great Again.
It was previously reported that during the suppression of protests in Iran on January 8 and 9, at least 12,000 people were killed.
It is also known that White House envoy Steve Witkoff held a secret meeting with the exiled Crown Prince of Iran Reza Pahlavi.
Recent information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarifies whether there are Ukrainians among those affected in Iran.
In the current situation, the US, according to the president, is taking an active position, supporting those who stand against human rights violations in Iran. This decision could have significant geopolitical consequences, as Iran remains an important player in the region, and the world community's reaction to its actions is under close scrutiny.
