Trump invites Putin to G20 in the USA: what is known about the summit.
According to inkorr.com: President of the United States Donald Trump expressed his intention to discuss the possibility of Russia's participation in the G20 summit, which will take place in 2026 in Miami. He emphasized that this event will be the first for the USA in the last 20 years and will be held at his golf club Doral in Miami.
'A very interesting event - hosting G20. The USA will have the opportunity to host a summit here, in America, for the first time in almost 20 years. And it will take place in one of the best cities in the country - beautiful Miami, Florida,' Trump said.
Trump also noted that he is ready to consider the possibility of Russian President Vladimir Putin or Chinese leader Xi Jinping participating in the event if they choose to attend.
'It's an interesting question. I would really like them to do so if they want. They can, you know, be observers. They will be observers. I'm not sure if they want to be observers,' Trump added.
Although Russia and China are members of the G20, Vladimir Putin missed the summits in 2023 and 2024 due to the situation in Ukraine, delegating Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to attend. Recently, Trump acknowledged that he intends to restore relations with Putin and Xi Jinping, who are currently distant from friendship.
A key point in Trump's statement is the attempt to restore dialogue with Russia and China, despite the fact that relations between the countries remain tense. The participation of these leaders in the G20 could significantly impact the atmosphere of the summit, refreshing international ties and opportunities for cooperation.
