The Third Gas Bill: Why It Is Important for Ukrainians to Timely Pay for Maintenance.
Gas consumers living in apartment buildings have been urged to comply with the legislation and timely pay for the technical maintenance of the gas networks (the third gas bill). This will help avoid endangering themselves and their neighbors.
The details of such a service were shared by the press service of the Mykolaiv city branch of 'Gas Networks'.
What the Technical Maintenance Service Entails
The branch noted that technical maintenance of the internal gas networks is not just a legal requirement but a vitally necessary component of safety.
During technical maintenance, company specialists identify and eliminate:
- gas leaks;
- malfunctions of appliances;
- violations of joint sealing.
It concerns the maintenance of gas pipelines of common ownership: gas pipelines located outside apartments, in staircases and on the facades of buildings.
The timely detection of relevant defects determines the prevention of explosions, fires, poisonings, and other emergencies, which pose potential threats to the life and health of residents in apartment buildings.
Despite the importance of the relevant work, citizens accumulate debts for the respective service. In particular, last year, consumers owed the Mykolaiv branch of 'Gas Networks' about 4 million UAH for the provided maintenance services.
'We urge residents to comply with the legislation, timely pay for services, and not endanger either themselves or their neighbors. Safety begins with responsibility — each of us,' the branch reported.
How Much the Maintenance Service Costs in 2025
According to the law 'On Housing and Communal Services', the tariff includes the cost of inspection, repairs of the gas distribution system, and its equipment.
In 2025, in Mykolaiv region, the lowest cost for such an inspection of common gas pipelines per apartment is about 100 UAH. However, in old houses with a small number of apartments that have a complex system of building gas pipelines, the service may cost over 1,000 UAH. Approximately the same rates apply in other regions.
However, payment for this service should occur once every three to five years, depending on the age of the building and gas networks:
- if more than 25 years old — once every three years;
- if less than 25 years old — once every five years.
To obtain a specific amount, the total cost is divided by the number of residents in the building.
The company invites citizens to comply with legislative requirements, pay for services, and responsibly address safety issues, which begin with the proper maintenance of gas networks in common areas.
