Established on March 14, 2014, the corps has been operating on the front lines ever since, holding the longest stretch of the frontline.

Currently, the Third Army Corps is responsible for approximately 150 kilometers of front line. The unit is actively engaged in combat operations in the Borova and Lyman sectors. In August 2025, corps units successfully halted an advance by Russian forces, marking a crucial phase in their combat history.

Andriy Biletskyi emphasized that 'the Black Corps delivered its first victorious battle against Russian forces on Rymarska Street in Kharkiv.'
