Public Sector Salary Adjustments

According to Novyny.live: A comprehensive review of public sector employee salaries is scheduled for 2026. This revision is driven by a change in the base calculation figure for official salaries and the potential for wage indexation. Under the provisions of Law No. 4695-IX 'On the State Budget-2026', new official salaries will be determined based on the tariff rate for a first-category employee, which will increase to UAH 3,470. This marks a significant rise from the previous first-category rate of UAH 3,195. These adjustments are part of broader fiscal measures to address economic pressures.

Revised Minimum Wage Levels

The new framework also introduces changes to the minimum wage. Specifically, the new hourly minimum wage will be set at UAH 52, up from UAH 48 in 2025. The monthly minimum wage will rise to UAH 8,647, compared to UAH 8,000 in the previous year.

After the deduction of taxes—comprising 18% personal income tax and a 5% military levy—the net minimum wage will amount to UAH 6,658.

The implementation process will begin in January 2026. The calculation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) will start in February, with the inflation index for February published in March. This index will determine the feasibility of a salary indexation, which, if approved, could take effect as early as April. These changes are expected to substantially impact the incomes of public sector workers, enhancing their financial security.

The adjustments to public sector pay reflect government efforts to improve citizens' financial well-being amid the ongoing economic challenges facing the country.

The anticipated increases in salaries and the minimum wage, coupled with the potential for indexation, are projected to provide workers with a more stable income level. This, in turn, could positively influence consumer demand and the nation's overall economic health.
