Japan's New Solar-Powered Tourist Train: A Scenic and Sustainable Journey.
Japan's New Tourist Train
According to Novyny.live: Nankai Electric Railways has announced the launch of a new tourist train, the Gran Tenku, which will begin service on April 24. This initiative highlights Japan's ongoing commitment to sustainable tourism and green technology. The train will operate between Namba Station in Osaka and Gokurakubashi Station in Wakayama Prefecture, with its primary feature being its operation on solar power, making it an environmentally friendly mode of transport.
Features of the Gran Tenku
The Gran Tenku trains will be painted red and consist of four carriages, each with distinct features. Passengers in the fourth carriage will be able to enjoy special dishes prepared by chef Atsushi Motokawa. The spring menu offered on board will include items such as:
- Kawachi duck
- Senshu octopus
To ensure comfortable service, the platform at Namba Station will be upgraded and used exclusively for Gran Tenku trains. Meanwhile, Hashimoto Station will close on March 20, 2023, which will also affect transportation organization in the region.
This new initiative by Nankai Electric Railways promises to be an attractive opportunity for tourists seeking to enjoy the beauty of Japanese landscapes while traveling on eco-friendly transport. The launch of the Gran Tenku reflects Japan's growing interest in clean transportation and sustainable tourism. The use of solar power not only helps reduce emissions but could also serve as a model for other countries looking to implement similar projects. The station upgrades and special onboard offerings underscore the company's aim to attract tourists and enhance service quality in the region.
