On January 19, 2025, there was an explosion of a military detonator at the Kyiv radio station 'Armia FM', resulting in injuries to the radio host. According to Public Broadcasting and the Kyiv police, an investigative operational group and explosives experts are working at the scene.
Preliminary investigation data suggest that the explosion was caused by a military detonator, which had been on display at the radio station since 2019. As a result of the incident, a 24-year-old employee of the radio station was injured and was urgently hospitalized. According to Public Broadcasting, the injured person's life is not in danger.
The law enforcement agencies have initiated a criminal investigation under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding the illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives. The police are conducting a detailed investigation into all circumstances of the incident.
