SBU detained an FSB killer in Kyiv: he prepared to assassinate a GUR officer.
Detention of the FSB killer in Kyiv
According to ТСН: The Security Service of Ukraine detained in the capital a killer who attempted to assassinate an officer of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to the SBU, the operation took place when the criminal pulled out a pistol and aimed at the military in one of Kyiv's establishments.
Details of the assassination attempt
It turned out that the 28-year-old detainee is a citizen of one of the Central Asian countries. He was recruited by Russian special services while looking for a job through Telegram channels.
“According to the Russians' instructions, the agent, posing as a tourist, arrived in Ukraine and initially stopped in Pervomaisk in the Mykolaiv region.
There he bought several smartphones and SIM cards, which he regularly changed for covert communication sessions with the FSB,” the message states.
Later, the foreigner arrived in Kyiv, received photographs of the potential target from his curator, as well as her geolocation and coordinates of the place where he could find weapons.
He was promised 50 thousand US dollars for carrying out the murder and legalization in one of the European Union countries.
Legal consequences
SBU investigators have charged the agent under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The criminal is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
It should also be noted that counterintelligence and investigative SBU completed the investigation regarding another FSB agent who planned to carry out a terrorist attack: blowing up an administrative building of law enforcement agencies in the center of Lviv.
The detention of this killer was an important step in the fight against criminal elements trying to destabilize the situation in Ukraine. SBU special operations contribute not only to the security of the state but also to protecting the lives of Ukrainian military and law enforcement officers. These events vividly demonstrate how important it is to respond to threats and control the activities of foreign agents on the territory of Ukraine.
