Russians used children as human shields in Kupiansk: how the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted the operation.

According to ТСН: In Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, servicemen of the Russian Federation used civilian residents, including children, as human shields, which posed additional danger to Ukrainian soldiers.

Deputy of the Kharkiv Regional Council Serhiy Zhukov reported that Ukrainian forces successfully conducted an operation, during which they managed to free civilians who were in one of the basements in the combat zone.

“Civilians in the city create a problem. There is verified evidence and documents that Russians used our residents, including children, as human shields. Our military's operation allowed to free the hostages,” Zhukov said.

The deputy also noted that some Russian soldiers attempted to hide among the civilian population during the area clearance, and such cases occur not only in Kupiansk.

“In many communities where the security situation remains complex, civilians risk their own lives and the health of children, as well as complicate the tasks of the Ukrainian military, creating additional danger,” he emphasized.

It is worth reminding that it was previously reported that the successful actions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine near Kupiansk indicate a political failure for Moscow. Russian troops were attempting to capture the city to create an illusion of their invincibility for the new administration of the USA and to prepare the ground for further annexations.

At the same time, the city remains in a state of prolonged tension - there are constant explosions, gunfire, and the buzzing of drones can be heard. The enemy uses combined fire with bombs, artillery, and drones.

The situation in Kupiansk demonstrates the complexity of the combat conditions in which not only the military but also civilians find themselves. The use of ‘human shield’ tactics indicates the irresponsibility of the Russian troops. Despite the danger, Ukrainian forces continue active operations to defend their territory and free civilians from threat.
