Alpaca therapy program launched for Ukrainian soldiers in Lviv region.
Healing Ukraine's defenders through animal-assisted therapy
According to UATV: A new rehabilitation initiative in the Lviv region is helping Ukrainian soldiers recover by interacting with animals at a local zoo-dendrological park. The program aims to ease the transition back to civilian life for those who have endured the horrors of the front lines, offering a peaceful environment for psychological and emotional healing.
Among the participants is 27-year-old Denys Muza, who joined the Ukrainian forces in 2023. On January 12, 2025, he was severely wounded in an FPV drone attack. Recalling the incident, he said:
“The strike was a glancing blow. My lungs were punctured, and my body is still full of shrapnel.” - Denys Muza
His involvement in the therapy marks a crucial step toward recovery.
Warm clothing initiative using alpaca wool
Separately, a project has been launched to produce warm garments for soldiers using alpaca wool. Project lead Olha Minenko explained:
“From this yarn, we will create warm items for our military personnel.” - Olha Minenko
The effort aims to provide Ukrainian defenders with essential cold-weather gear during the harsh winter months.
Together, these rehabilitation and clothing initiatives reflect society's deep gratitude and support for those defending the country, helping them recover from severe injuries—both physical and psychological—and reintegrate into peaceful life more smoothly.
