Odessa Doctor and Patient Face Up to 8 Years for Alleged Justification of Russian Aggression.
Incidents in Odessa
According to Novyny.live: A 43-year-old phthisiatrician and her 48-year-old male patient in Odessa are under suspicion for allegedly justifying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The incidents for which they are being charged occurred in 2024 and 2025. Since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukrainian authorities have strictly enforced laws against supporting the aggressor.
The doctor is accused of expressing support for Russia's aggression in April 2024. Her patient is separately accused of making similar statements in support of the Russian aggression in May and June 2025. Both individuals face charges for justifying and denying Russia's armed aggression, which carries severe legal consequences under Ukrainian law.
According to Ukrainian legislation, such actions are punishable by imprisonment for up to eight years, with possible confiscation of property. This case underscores the legal risks of publicly supporting an aggressor state during an ongoing war of national survival.
Other Incidents in the Kharkiv Region
In a separate matter within the Kharkiv region, Ukraine's Security Service detained a woman who allegedly attempted to gain employment at a territorial recruitment center on behalf of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB). Furthermore, in August 2025, a man was exposed for allegedly correcting artillery strikes targeting Odessa and Poltava. These events highlight active counter-intelligence operations against pro-Russian activities.
These incidents demonstrate the heightened focus of Ukrainian law enforcement on actions perceived to threaten national security amid the ongoing conflict with Russia. Cases where individuals voice support for the aggression are treated as serious crimes, emphasizing the state's stance on national unity during wartime.
The detention of individuals for such actions is considered a critical step in countering Russian propaganda and agitation aimed at destabilizing Ukraine from within.
