The Parliament named the condition for the appearance of peacekeepers in Ukraine.
At a meeting of the defense committee of the Verkhovna Rada, issues regarding the placement of foreign military formations on the territory of Ukraine are being discussed. This was reported by People's Deputy Fedir Venislavskyi.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi expressed the idea of placing peacekeepers in the country. Venislavskyi confirmed that the decision on peacekeepers will depend on partners and the consent of the Rada.
The deputy also noted that Russia will not abruptly stop hostilities, but countries that may send their peacekeeping contingents understand this situation. Venislavskyi emphasized that guarantees from Russia must be in place before peacekeepers are deployed - a ceasefire and non-fire on foreign troops on the territory of Ukraine.
The deputy pointed out that the idea of deploying peacekeepers in Ukraine is complex and uncertain. It is necessary to carefully analyze legal issues and conduct studies before making decisions. The Constitution of Ukraine prohibits the placement of foreign military bases but allows the placement of military formations of foreign states based on a decision by the Verkhovna Rada.
Thus, a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine is relevant, but its implementation requires careful study and agreements with partners.
