Ukrainian Freedom Faces Criminal Prosecution in Russia

The Attorney General's Office of Russia has included the US Helsinki Commission in the list of undesirable organizations, accusing it of destabilizing the situation in the country. Russians face criminal prosecution for cooperating with this organization.

The Prosecutor General's Office stated that members of the Helsinki Commission spread materials that harm Russia's image and undermine the work of law enforcement agencies and the judicial system.

In May 2023, the commission appealed to US President Joe Biden, requesting ballistic missiles ATACMS for Ukraine.

The US Helsinki Commission was established in 1976 to monitor the implementation of the Helsinki Accords of 1975, which are intended to promote cooperation and preserve the territorial integrity and sovereignty of countries. The agreement was signed by 35 states, including the USSR, the US, Canada, and European countries.

In the fall, the State Duma reviewed the report of the Helsinki Commission, recognizing it as deserving of accusations of interfering in the affairs of sovereign states and preparing for color revolutions.
