Russian Strategic Bomber Tu-22M3 Crashes; Pilots Survive.
Tu-22M3 Crash Incident
According to Espreso.tv: A Tu-22M3 aircraft went down near the village of Kamenka, close to the town of Svirsk, during a scheduled training mission. The plane was reportedly unarmed at the time of the crash. Russia's Ministry of Defense confirmed that the crew members are safe and that no damage or injuries occurred on the ground.
Pattern of Russian Military Aviation Accidents
This crash adds to a series of recent incidents involving Russian military aircraft. In November 2025, a Su-30 fighter jet crashed, killing both pilots. Earlier, in April 2025, another Tu-22M3 bomber struck a power line, cutting electricity to 210 homes and forcing the pilot to eject. In March 2025, a Su-25 ground-attack aircraft went down during a training flight in Primorsky Krai; the pilot also ejected safely.
The Tu-22M3 crash highlights ongoing concerns within Russia's military aviation sector, which has seen multiple accidents over the past few years. While no casualties or property damage occurred this time, the frequency of such incidents raises questions about flight safety and the technical condition of the fleet. As Russia continues to modernize its armed forces and increase training demands, these recurring crashes could undermine public confidence in the military's operational readiness.
