Sweden has detained a former military consultant for espionage on behalf of Russia.
According to ТСН: A man suspected of espionage on behalf of Russia has been detained in Sweden. He previously worked with the Armed Forces of the country.
The suspect is currently in custody.
"Currently, the investigation indicates that the suspect was in the hands of Russian intelligence," said senior prosecutor Mats Ljungquist.
The detention took place on Wednesday. The man is about 35 years old and previously worked as a consultant for the Swedish Armed Forces through an IT consulting company from 2018 to 2022.
It is also worth noting that earlier reports mentioned a security officer from Brussels accused of espionage on behalf of China and possibly Russia. A Russian spy was uncovered in Austria at a major energy company.
This case once again highlights the escalation of the situation surrounding espionage in Europe, where security demands are becoming increasingly stringent. Your attention to such news may indicate a growing concern about external threats, which could soon pose new challenges to national security in EU countries.
