According to TSN.ua: High-stakes three-way negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia commenced in Geneva on February 18, focusing on practical issues and the mechanics of potential solutions. While officially launched on the 18th, the initial working sessions were held on February 17. These talks represent a significant diplomatic effort to address ongoing regional tensions.
Leading the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov stated that
"consultations are taking place in groups organized by direction within the political and military blocks"and emphasized that
"the delegation is focused on substantive work."U.S. Special Representative Steve Whitkoff noted that considerable progress had been achieved during the discussions.
Representing the Russian side, Maria Zakharova, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stressed:
"Any step that could lead to a settlement of the situation is of great importance."The talks were initiated under the directive of U.S. President Donald Trump, underscoring the process's high priority in international diplomacy.
