Abramovich, who has faced international sanctions due to his Kremlin ties, came with the goal of relaying the Ukrainian leader’s stance.

During their discussion, Zelenskyy made it clear he has no intention of handing over the disputed Donbas region to Russia.

“That is your choice—it doesn’t matter to us,”
he emphasized. Abramovich, in turn, stated:
“I brought a message directly for you, and I want to take a message from you and deliver it to Putin.”

Diplomatic Efforts Amid Rising Tensions

Zelenskyy further stressed that his position remains firm, saying:

“That was the main message. I said we will not back down.”
This exchange highlights the ongoing diplomatic channels being used despite the heightened conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

The meeting between Zelenskyy and Abramovich took place against the backdrop of a prolonged confrontation between the two nations, where territorial integrity remains a core issue. It is significant that Ukraine has clearly stated its refusal to compromise on Donbas, demonstrating its resolve to defend national interests.
