Priorities for the New Government
Romania’s previous prime minister, Nicolae Boloșan, was dismissed on May 5, 2023. In his new role, Tomac has outlined key priorities for the incoming administration, including:
- ensuring national security
- strengthening the strategic partnership with the United States and NATO
- maintaining economic stability
Additional strategic goals include utilizing funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) by August 2026 and advancing Romania’s bid to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
With a strong political background and significant voter support, Tomac is well-positioned to lead the government. His administration is expected to focus on critical issues shaping Romania’s future.
Tomac’s appointment signals Romania’s commitment to stability and progress amid a shifting political landscape.
His plans to deepen cooperation with the U.S. and NATO highlight the need to address modern security challenges. Meanwhile, the emphasis on absorbing European funds and pursuing OECD membership underscores a strategy aimed at economic growth and deeper integration into international institutions.
