Russian Strike on Fuel Station in Sumy Leaves Three Injured in Escalating Infrastructure Attacks.
Strike Hits Gas Stations in Sumy
According to UATV: Three people were injured on June 26 when Russian forces struck gas stations in Sumy, causing fires that firefighters later extinguished. The attack also damaged two civilian vehicles. Sumy Regional Military Administration head Oleh Hryhorov noted that Russian forces have intensified strikes on fuel infrastructure throughout June.
Oleh Hryhorov emphasized that 'this is a deliberate Russian tactic—targeting fuel infrastructure.'
On the night of June 26, the Russian military also launched seven Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 169 Shahed and other attack drones against Ukraine. These actions highlight the growing intensity of assaults on critical infrastructure across the country.
Russia's Military Strategy
These attacks on fuel stations are part of a broader Russian strategy aimed at destabilizing Ukraine's economy and undermining its energy security. Such incidents are raising alarm among local residents and government agencies working to ensure regional safety.
The strikes reflect a dangerous escalation in Russia's military campaign, threatening not only civilian safety but also the functioning of key economic sectors. The rising number of infrastructure attacks—particularly on fuel depots—could have severe consequences for Ukraine's energy stability and overall economic outlook, demanding an urgent response from Ukrainian authorities and the international community.
