July 4th Strike on Crimea: Kerch Bridge Shut Down, Fires Erupt in Dzhankoi.
Drone Attack Targets Crimea
According to UATV: A drone strike on the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula on July 4, 2023, forced the closure of key infrastructure and sparked multiple fires. The assault began at 11:00 PM and lasted until 2:00 AM.
The Kerch (Crimean) Bridge was shut down as a result of the attacks. Explosions were reported at the Novotroitsk wind farm, a military airfield in Dzhankoi, and the Krym ferry terminal in Kerch. Additionally, a vehicle carrying 200 liters of gasoline from Taman was destroyed in the incident.
Rising Drone Warfare
Since the start of 2026, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces have increased their target strikes by 1,150%, highlighting a major escalation in drone deployment within the conflict.
This latest attack underscores the growing role of unmanned aerial vehicles in military operations, a trend likely to reshape the strategies of both warring sides. Disrupting vital infrastructure like the Kerch Bridge could severely impact logistics and supply chains in occupied territories, as well as Russia's military operations in the region.
With drone activity on the rise, further escalations and tactical shifts from both parties are expected in the near future.
