Tragedy Strikes Nikopol

According to UATV: Russian forces continue targeting civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. The latest incident occurred on June 19 in Nikopol, Dnipro region, when a drone struck a gas station. A 64-year-old man was killed, and five others—four women and one man—were injured.

Among the wounded, 47-year-old Margarita suffered the most severe injuries, according to medical staff. Describing the attack, she said:

“I begged for help, but I realized no one could hear me.”
She also recounted her rescue:
“Some guys spotted me, I was pleading for help. I’m grateful to them. They pulled me out of the rubble and put me in their car.”

This attack follows a June 16 incident in which a Russian FPV drone killed three people in Nikopol. Earlier, on April 4, a similar drone hit a bus, killing four and wounding 16. The situation in Nikopol remains dire, as residents face constant threats from the aggressor.

Rescuers Under Fire

On June 23, Russian forces also attacked emergency workers who were clearing debris from previous strikes. This highlights a deliberate pattern of targeting civilians and those assisting them. Margarita noted, “Nikopol had never been hit by Shahed drones before. This was, I think, the first time,” emphasizing that such attacks mark a new phase in the aggression against Ukraine.

These events have stirred deep concern among the population and underscore the urgent need for measures to protect civilians in conflict zones.

The situation in Nikopol illustrates the mounting danger for ordinary people, who are increasingly becoming targets of military operations. Strikes on infrastructure like gas stations and assaults on rescue workers reflect an escalation of violence and a clear intent to harm non-combatants. This raises alarms not only locally but also internationally, as it violates fundamental protections for civilians during armed conflict.
