Attacks on Russian Oil Processing Infrastructure

According to Espreso.tv: Ukraine's defense forces have launched strikes on Russian oil refineries and military assets used by occupying troops. The Volgograd Oil Refinery in Volgograd, Russia, was hit, triggering a fire on site. The attack damaged processing units AVT-1, AVT-3, AVT-5, and AVT-6. This refinery has an annual capacity of approximately 14 million tons of crude oil.

Separately, a strike targeted the 'Yaroslavl-3' oil pumping station, where two storage tanks—one holding 50,000 cubic meters and another 20,000 cubic meters—were confirmed to be burning. The station is a key node in the 'Surgut-Polotsk' pipeline network. That same night, Ukrainian forces also struck a 'Tor-M2' surface-to-air missile system near Berdiansk in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Ongoing Operations by Ukrainian Forces

In the early hours of May 28, the 'Tuapsinsky' oil refinery in Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai, was also hit. This facility processes roughly 12 million tons of oil annually. These strikes underscore Ukraine's continued efforts to target both military and economic assets that support Russia's war effort.

The operations demonstrate Ukraine's ability to conduct long-range attacks deep inside enemy territory, aiming to degrade Russia's economic foundation and military capacity. Oil refineries are strategic targets because they supply fuel for Russia's military operations. Such strikes not only hinder the aggressor's war-fighting capability but also highlight Ukraine's growing reach beyond its own borders.
