Iran's Export of Warfare and Ukraine's Response

According to UATV: Iran's continued export of military conflict to various nations is causing regional alarm. The same drones once deployed against Ukraine are now being used to strike nations around the Persian Gulf. In response to this shared threat, Ukraine has declared its readiness to assist partner countries in defending against Iranian drone attacks, provided such aid does not compromise the protection of Ukraine's own airspace.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine is prepared to offer support, particularly in developing interception systems.

"Kyiv can provide significant support in defending against massed bombardments," noted Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.
She also emphasized that Ukraine's hard-won expertise in creating anti-drone defenses could prove valuable for Gulf states now facing similar threats.

A Technological Edge in Counter-Drone Warfare

Ukrainian forces employ serial-produced interceptors costing a few thousand dollars to counter drones. In stark contrast, the Iranian-supplied 'Shahed' drones cost approximately $30,000 each. This disparity highlights the critical importance of technological advantage in combating unmanned aerial vehicles.

"Today, our combat expertise is one of our military's key achievements," stated Andrii Sybiha.

As part of its support for UAV production, 130 projects received grants in 2025, with one-third specializing specifically in unmanned aerial systems. The primary objective, as Vitalii Dobrianskyi noted, is preserving the lives of military personnel, underscoring the vital role of technology in modern warfare. Ukraine is currently in talks with Middle Eastern partners regarding potential cooperation, which could enhance regional security and provide effective defense against these emerging dangers. This comes as Iranian-made drones have become a destabilizing factor in conflicts beyond Ukraine's borders.

This situation underscores the necessity of international security cooperation, as the threat posed by Iranian drones carries serious implications not only for Ukraine but also for Persian Gulf nations. Ukraine's support in this domain could mark a significant step in bolstering the region's defensive capabilities and deterring further aggressive actions by Iran. Collaborating with states confronting similar threats could substantially improve the effectiveness of counter-drone defenses and enhance the technological capacities of all participating countries.
