Ukraine asks India to act as a 'moderator' in the negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv. This was reported by Ukraine's ambassador to India, Olexander Polishchuk.

According to a Bloomberg report, the ambassador noted that India should take a more active role in stopping the war in Ukraine, if it desires permanent membership in the UN Security Council.

According to Polishchuk, Ukraine would like India to act as a 'moderator' in negotiations with Russia and use its connections with Moscow to persuade it to join peace talks.

«India should use its influence on Russia to make it stop the war in Ukraine and achieve peace», – said Polishchuk.

At the same Time, the ambassador noted that Ukraine has proposed India to hold a second peace summit by November 2024, but has not yet received a response from New Delhi regarding this proposal.

«We hope that India will agree to hold the summit by 2024. This will be an opportunity to discuss ways to achieve sustainable peace in Ukraine», – noted Polishchuk.

The ambassador also emphasized that India should not be content with just the role of a 'mediator' who relays messages between Ukraine and Russia, but should play a more significant role in the peace process.

Recall, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky suggested holding a summit in India after the war with Russia ends.
