EU Hands Ukraine Final Accession Conditions Across Three Key Clusters.
Ukraine Receives Full Set of EU Accession Conditions
According to UATV: In Brussels, the Ukrainian delegation was handed the complete package of requirements for joining the European Union, covering the last three negotiation clusters. These clusters address:
- Competitiveness and inclusive growth
- The green agenda
- Resources, agriculture, and cohesion policy
This milestone marks the first time Ukraine has ever received a full set of EU accession conditions, signaling a significant step forward in its integration process.
European Commissioner Marta Kos announced the delivery of this package on March 17, 2023. She stated:
'We have continued the work that began last December in Lviv.' - Marta Kos
The announcement underscores the sustained momentum and commitment from the Ukrainian side in driving forward the reforms essential for EU membership.
Ukraine’s Progress on Commitments
Taras Kachka, a member of the Ukrainian delegation, highlighted that Ukraine has already fulfilled 84% of its obligations under the EU Association Agreement, with a target completion date of 2025. He also emphasized:
'War is not an excuse for failing to implement reforms.' - Taras Kachka
This statement reflects the determination of Ukrainian authorities to stay on the reform track despite the challenging circumstances the country faces.
Securing this accession conditions package represents a major achievement for Ukraine on its path toward European integration and demonstrates the European Union’s continued support for the country’s reform efforts.
This development highlights Ukraine’s deepening ties with European institutions, which is crucial for its economic and political future. Amid the ongoing conflict with Russia, meeting EU entry requirements serves not only as an economic objective but also as a strategic move to bolster international backing for Ukraine. Accelerating reforms and aligning with European standards can enhance the country’s long-term stability and growth prospects.
