Ukraine is negotiating with the US to strengthen air defense with THAAD, - media.
Ukraine is in talks with the US to enhance missile defense against the new Russian threat.
This information was provided by sources in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the 'Interfax-Ukraine' agency.
According to the General Staff, two options are being considered to counter the new Russian missiles: obtaining THAAD systems or upgrading existing Patriot systems. The issue arose after Russia tested a new experimental type of missile.
Military experts from the General Staff emphasize that the number of new experimental missiles with the Russians is limited. In their opinion, the main goal of their use is to intimidate Ukrainians. 'In all characteristics - both in height and speed - they surpass regular missiles,' the General Staff noted.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin announced the use of the medium-range missile 'Oreshnik' during the attack on Dnipro on November 21. The Pentagon clarified that this refers to an experimental medium-range ballistic missile developed based on the intercontinental ballistic missile RS-26 'Rubezh'.
