The Ukrainian energy system is actively recovering after the massive attacks by Russia last year. Over the past 12 months, approximately 6 GW out of 10 GW of destruction have been restored, which constitutes 60% of the lost resource."Unfortunately, state companies have built very little. Less than 20% of the declared resources. Therefore, at present, there are absolutely no grounds for limiting electricity for the population or for the commercial sector," explained the director of energy programs at the Razumkov Center, Volodymyr Omelchenko.Experts also note the development of decentralized generation in Ukraine, with nearly 900 MW of new capacities built, including gas turbine and gas compressor stations.Omelchenko is confident that under the current conditions, there are no grounds for restrictions on electricity consumption for either the population or businesses. Even during summer heat, the system can ensure stable energy supply. In June 2025, electricity exports exceeded imports, indicating a recovery of the energy system. However, it is important not to forget about potential risks under certain conditions due to military factors.
