Price of potatoes in retail stores
Recently, consumers have been concerned about the fairness of prices for essential products. Of particular interest is the situation with potatoes, which are popular in Ukraine.
According to the wholesale market "Shuvar", the minimum price for potatoes is 17 hryvnias per kilogram, the average is 18.50 hryvnias, and the maximum is 20 hryvnias.
However, the situation in retail networks looks quite different. According to the GoToShop service, in the country's supermarkets, potato prices range from 19.99 to 40 hryvnias per kilogram, depending on the variety and quality.
Even regular first-grade potatoes in chain stores cost 24.90 hryvnias per kilogram, which is 24.5% higher than the maximum wholesale price.
It is interesting to note that elite potato varieties are also sold at high prices: Bella Rossa baking potatoes – 34.90 hryvnias per kilogram, white Granada potatoes – 36.90 hryvnias.
