According to Opendatabot, Ukrainians in 2024 are divorcing more often, marrying less frequently, and concluding more prenuptial agreements. In the first half of this year, over 72 thousand marriages were contracted, which is 15% fewer than last year. However, the number of prenuptial agreements increased by 25%, and divorces by 1.5 times compared to last year.

During this period, 72,766 new families were created, which is 15% less than a year ago and one-third less than in 2022. This indicates a declining interest in marriage. Even after the war, the number of marriages continues to decrease. This year, fewer new families were created than before the major war.

Awareness among Ukrainians regarding the creation of new families is growing - more and more couples are concluding prenuptial agreements. In the first half of this year, notaries used 3,768 prenuptial agreement forms, which is 25% more than last year.

The leader in the number of marriages is Kyiv, where 9,392 new families were registered. The second place goes to the Dnipropetrovsk region with 7,076 marriages, and the third place to the Odessa region with 4,896 new families.

The number of divorces continues to rise, especially after the war. In the first six months of 2024, 15,578 divorces were registered, 1.5 times more than last year, and 18% more than in the first half of 2021.

In the anti-rating for the number of divorces, Kyiv leads with 2,118 divorces, followed by the Dnipropetrovsk region with 1,404 divorces and the Kharkiv region with 1,148 divorces. The fewest divorces were in the Zakarpattia region - 224, and the fewest marriages - in the Chernivtsi region with 1,376 new families this year.

In the first half of 2024, 87,655 children were born in Ukraine, which is 9% less than last year, but 250,972 deaths were recorded. Notably, mortality in the country exceeds the birth rate by three times.
