Ukrainians in Ireland will receive new housing: the government of the country has announced a plan.
The Irish government has announced a plan to accommodate Ukrainian refugees in modular homes being developed by private developers. This is the first step to move Ukrainians from hotels to sustainable housing. The housing complexes will be located next to local infrastructure.
The government is considering the possibility of building modular homes that can accommodate up to 200 people. This will help move refugees from hotels and guesthouses to long-term housing.
The Department of Integration reported a shortage of places to accommodate international protection applicants. Tents and sleeping bags have been temporarily provided to everyone in need of housing.
The government is also proposing that private developers take responsibility for operating and managing the modular homes. They will receive payment from the state for their work.
The Office of Public Works is considering the possibility of building modular homes. The cost of building a two-bedroom apartment is approximately 165 thousand euros.
Thus, the Irish government is working on ensuring the reception and accommodation of Ukrainian refugees in modular homes to address the housing shortage in the country.
