Although Sudakov settled in Portugal, his family remained in Ukraine. The country continues to suffer from the war with Russia following Vladimir Putin's invasion of Donbas.
The Ukrainian national team, unable to play at their home stadium, is temporarily based in Kyiv, where bombings also occurred this week.
The footballer took to social media to report that his wife Elizaveta, their three-year-old daughter Milana, and his mother were victims of this horrific situation.
Currently, Sudakov is competing internationally with the Ukrainian team that faced France in Poland on Friday.
On Instagram, he posted several videos and photos showing the moment when the drone struck the apartment they were in.
"This is what my home looks like after the night," he wrote. "Arrival of shahed (drones). Wife, child and mother were home at the time. Impromptu people from the neighboring country will write that military equipment is stored in my house."
