It is worth noting that young Swiss national team footballer Silvan Wallner ended his playing career at the age of 22 due to religious reasons. This was reported by Swiss media.
The player from the 'Blau-Weiss Linz' team of the Austrian Bundesliga, 22-year-old central defender Silvan Wallner, announced the end of his professional football career. The decision was unexpected, given his young age. In January 2025, Wallner will only be 23 years old.
The reason for this step was a religious factor. Wallner is a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which strictly observes the prohibition on working on Saturday, their sacred day of rest according to their faith. Since most matches in the Austrian Bundesliga are played on Saturdays, the footballer decided to end his professional career.
Wallner is a product of the Swiss club 'Zurich'. The player was called up to the Swiss youth teams U17 and U18. In the summer of 2024, he moved to 'Blau-Weiss Linz' for 200 thousand euros from 'Zurich'. With the new team, he managed to play 13 matches.
It is worth noting that French President Emmanuel Macron plans to attend the football match of his national team against the Israel team. The game will take place under tight police surveillance after attacks on Jewish fans in Amsterdam.
In Macron's office, it was noted that the head of state wishes to 'demonstrate full support for the French team, as he does in every match'.
Macron's presence should also send a 'message of brotherhood and solidarity' after incidents of anti-Semitism that occurred after the match in Amsterdam on November 7, said people close to the French president.
The Nations League match between France and Israel will take place on November 14 at the 'Stade de France' stadium in the suburbs of Paris. According to Paris Police Chief Laurent Nuñez, the game will take place in an atmosphere of 'high risk'.
He stated that for safety, around 4000 police officers will be deployed to monitor law and order around the stadium, in public transport, and throughout the capital of France.
According to the publication, the Israeli authorities called on their citizens to refrain from traveling to the match. The National Security Council of the country stated that among Palestinians and supporters of Palestine, calls have spread to harm Israelis and Jews under the guise of protests and demonstrations, as well as to use sporting events for this purpose.
Nevertheless, the right-wing Jewish movement 'Beitar' announced that it will hold a rally against anti-Semitism in Paris before the football match.
It is worth mentioning that in the evening of November 7 after the match between the Israeli club 'Maccabi' and the Dutch 'Ajax' in the Netherlands, clashes broke out between Israeli fans and pro-Palestinian activists. Videos circulated on social media show attacks and beatings on Israelis. Five injured were hospitalized with injuries. To end the unrest, the police deployed six special units and 800 policemen from across the country.
Law enforcement officials detained 63 individuals, four of whom were still in prison as of the morning of November 9.
