Russian Forces Suffer Heavy Combat Losses
According to UATV: On March 17, 2026, Ukraine’s defense forces reported killing 930 Russian soldiers and destroying 120 enemy vehicles in a single day. These figures highlight the severe toll on Russian troops, with casualties steadily accumulating since the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022. To date, total Russian combat losses are estimated at approximately 1,280,860 personnel.
According to the latest updates, Ukrainian forces also struck the following:
- around 2,000 enemy drones;
- Russian tank losses have reached 11,783 units (with 2 destroyed in the last day);
- combat armored vehicle losses stand at 24,218 units (3 destroyed in the past 24 hours);
- artillery system losses total 38,477 units (20 destroyed in one day);
- 1,688 multiple launch rocket systems (with 1 also eliminated).
Ukrainian President Comments on the Situation
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that 'the defense forces prevented a large-scale offensive by the Russian army.'
Russian military losses continue to climb, particularly in the air domain, where 435 aircraft and 349 helicopters have been destroyed. Additionally, significant damage has been inflicted on air defense systems (1,333 units) and specialized equipment (4,091 units).
