Massive July 15 Drone Attack: Ukraine's Air Defense Downs 101 Out of 122 UAVs.
Assault on Ukrainian Territory
According to UATV: On July 15, enemy forces launched an attack on Ukraine using two Kh-59/69 guided missiles and 122 strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This triggered a swift response from Ukraine's air defense systems, which were forced to engage the emerging threat.
The assault began around 8:30 AM with the launch of missiles and UAVs, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas drones, as well as Parody decoy drones. The incident resulted in 18 missile and drone impacts across 19 different locations. Ukrainian air defense managed to shoot down or neutralize 101 UAVs while withstanding a powerful strike.
Current Situation and Ukrainian Forces' Response
Debris fell at 7 additional locations, underscoring the severity of the situation. In response to the attack, Ukraine deployed aviation, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare (EW) teams, and mobile fire groups. This case highlights the critical importance of air defense readiness in the face of escalating enemy threats.
This attack serves as yet another example of the escalating conflict on Ukrainian soil, where the enemy continues to leverage advanced drone technology to achieve military objectives. The actions of Ukraine's air defense forces demonstrated their effectiveness against modern threats, but the steadily increasing intensity of attacks demands even greater preparedness and resources from them.
