Ukrainian tennis player who helps the Armed Forces of Ukraine forced to change her outfit due to WTA's position.
Ukrainian tennis player Oleksandra Oliynykova (WTA 297) won her first match at the WTA 125 tournament in Florianopolis (Brazil). She defeated Alevtina Ibragimova (WTA 321) with a score of 6:4, 6:0.
After the match, the organizers asked Oliynykova to change her outfit for the upcoming matches. The reason was the presence of a patch from the Drones4UA.org website, which raises funds to assist the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Such advertising placement contradicts WTA rules.
Oliynykova posted a message on Instagram explaining the situation. She stated that the Drones4UA project is not political and does not supply weapons. The Drones4UA website belongs to the tennis player herself and is used to inform about the situation in Ukraine and provide assistance to the military.
Oliynykova disagrees with WTA's position but is willing to adapt to their rules regarding the presentation of the Drones4UA project.
Today, December 4, Oliynykova will continue her performances at the tournament in Brazil. In the Round of 16, she will play against Maiia Khvalinska (Poland, WTA 158). The match is scheduled to start at approximately 16:30 Kyiv Time.
