Ukrainian Drones Strike Crimean Military Targets and Oil Refineries: Key Details Emerge.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces Launch Strikes on Russian Assets
According to Espreso.tv: On June 1 and 2, Ukraine’s defense forces carried out a series of attacks against key Russian-occupied facilities. The strikes targeted the Ilsky and Saratov oil refineries, along with military installations in Crimea. These operations are a direct response to Russian aggression and aim to degrade Moscow’s military capabilities.
The assault unfolded over June 1 and the night of June 2. The Ilsky refinery, one of southern Russia’s largest crude processing plants with an annual capacity of 6.6 million tons, was hit—subsequent fires confirmed the damage. In Crimea, a Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and gun system was also destroyed. Other high-priority targets included:
- a drone storage facility in Shakhtarske, Donetsk region;
- drone control centers near Ustinka (Belgorod region),
- Luhove (Zaporizhzhia region), and Hola Prystan (Kherson region).
Strategic Strikes and Enemy Losses
Ukrainian forces additionally struck concentrations of enemy personnel near Shyrokyne, Berestok, and Komar in Donetsk region, Maliivka in Dnipropetrovsk region, and Lokot in Kursk region. The attacks caused critical damage to primary oil processing units at the Novoshakhtinsk and Saratov refineries. Notably, on May 31, 2026, missile strikes had already hit the Novoshakhtinsk refinery, destroying its AVT-1 and AVT-2 units, and the AVT-6 unit at the Saratov refinery, triggering a massive fire.
On the night of June 1, an occupying vessel was also struck at its base in the village of Mizhvodne, Crimea. These actions underscore Ukraine’s intensified efforts to counter Russian aggression and disrupt its war machine.
These attacks are part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to strengthen defensive operations and reduce the enemy’s military potential.
The refinement of tactics targeting critical infrastructure highlights the growing ability of Ukraine’s Armed Forces to execute successful frontline operations. Such strikes could significantly impact the logistics and supply chains of Russian troops, a crucial factor in the protracted conflict.
