90 Russian Vessels Destroyed by Ukrainian Drones in a Single Week: Fresh Strikes Target Russian Assets.
Ongoing Conflict in Ukraine
According to UATV: Hostilities persist across Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression. On July 11, a Russian strike hit the center of Sumy, killing five civilians, including a 13-year-old girl. In Kyiv, attacks wounded 12 people, among them two children aged 10 and 11. In Kryvyi Rih, two more civilians lost their lives due to Russian shelling.
Over the past seven days, the Russian military has launched more than 4,000 aerial assaults on Ukraine. In response, Ukrainian drone operations proved highly effective, destroying 90 Russian vessels—including tankers and dry cargo ships—highlighting intense combat activity on waterways.
Economic Strain and Global Response
Amid the fighting, Russia’s economy is facing new pressures. Gasoline prices have hit their highest level since 2010, driven by the war and international sanctions. The Syzran Refinery in Samara Oblast, a key fuel producer, may now be under significant strain due to these evolving conditions.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for stronger collaboration with Ukraine’s international allies to fulfill arms supply agreements. He stated:
“We need a new level of engagement with Ukraine’s partners to implement the commitments on weapons deliveries.”
Zelenskyy also highlighted the escalating fuel crisis in Russia, describing it as “a completely fair outcome of Putin’s refusal to end this war.”
Additionally, the European Union’s 21st sanctions package against Russia could be approved on July 13, reflecting ongoing international condemnation of Russian aggression. The situation remains tense, with battlefield developments continuing to shape domestic and foreign policies in both nations.
The current escalation in Ukraine—particularly the large-scale attacks on civilian areas—underscores the prolonged and uncertain nature of the conflict. Rising fuel prices in Russia may signal deeper economic troubles resulting from sanctions and military expenditures. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s active operations in the air and at sea demonstrate its determination to resist aggression. The potential adoption of new EU sanctions could further isolate Russia internationally and bolster Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty.
