Poland Delivers Patriot Missiles to Ukraine: Quantity Revealed and Pledged in Return.
Poland Transfers PAC-3 MSE Missiles to Ukraine
According to Espreso.tv: Poland has supplied Ukraine with PAC-3 MSE missiles, integral components of the Patriot air defense system. This action followed requests from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and General Alexus Grynkewich, head of U.S. forces in Europe. Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed that the country handed over 'several' missiles designed to intercept ballistic and cruise missiles.
Significance of Poland's Support
Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk stated that Poland received a commitment that, in the event of a threat, it would receive 'ten times more such missiles' within the first 24 hours. This transfer continues a history of Polish Patriot systems for Ukraine that began in 2022. In 2024, Prime Minister Donald Tusk claimed Poland lacked Patriot batteries it could give to Ukraine. However, in July 2023, the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm reported that the government had secretly transferred PAC-3 MSE missiles to Ukraine.
Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz remarked: 'This is the margin of our capabilities.'
He added that 'it is better for Polish Patriots to shoot down Russian missiles over Kyiv than over Warsaw.' Poland's move underscores its support for Ukraine in countering aggression and its readiness to help strengthen air defense systems.
This delivery of PAC-3 MSE missiles from Poland to Ukraine highlights ongoing military backing from Warsaw amid escalating Russian threats. The importance of this aid reflects NATO's collective efforts to bolster regional security, with Poland, as an alliance member, actively involved in enhancing Ukraine's defensive capabilities. This step may also shape future Ukraine-Poland relations and cooperation within the European security framework.
