Production and export of Ukrainian grain: forecast for this year
According to the report of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the production and export of Ukrainian grain this year will occur at lower volumes compared to last year.
The total forecasted reduction in grain production will be 13%, and in exports - 26%.
One of the factors for the decline in exports is the depletion of grain stocks in Ukraine. At the same Time, ending stocks at the end of the season are estimated at 1.8 million tons - which is 19% more than last year, but significantly less than before the war.
The largest decrease is expected in corn production - 24%, down to 24.6 million tons. The export of this crop may drop by 33%, to 19.6 million tons. By the end of the season, corn stocks are expected to be at 722 thousand tons, which is slightly higher than a year ago, but significantly less than it was last year.
Wheat production will remain at 22.9 million tons, but its export is projected to decrease by 19% and will amount to 15 million tons.
Production and export volumes of barley will remain stable - 5.9 million tons and 2.6 million tons respectively.
