Ukraine Hit by Kinzhal Missile and 147 Drones: Air Defense Took Down 138 Targets.
Russia Launches Large-Scale Attack on Ukraine
According to UATV: On May 28, Russian forces carried out a massive assault on Ukraine, deploying an aeroballistic Kinzhal missile along with 147 attack drones of various models, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas. This coordinated strike targeted multiple regions across the country.
The Kinzhal missile was fired from Russia's Lipetsk Oblast. Meanwhile, the drones were launched from several locations, including:
- Bryansk
- Kursk
- Oryol
- Millerovo
- Primorsko-Akhtarsk
- Russia-occupied areas of Crimea, specifically Hvardiiske and Chauda
As of 8:00 a.m. on May 28, Ukrainian forces had successfully destroyed 138 enemy drones.
Reports indicate that the Kinzhal missile and nine drones hit seven distinct locations, with debris falling across six different sites. In a separate incident on May 27, a strike on Kherson left a 36-year-old woman and her two daughters injured, while their father was killed. These events highlight the escalating danger for civilians in the region.
Worsening Security Situation
This attack is part of Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine, which began in 2014. The use of advanced aeroballistic missiles and drones signals an escalation in the conflict and growing threats to non-combatants. As Ukrainian forces work to counter these strikes, it is crucial to recognize that such attacks endanger not only military personnel but also ordinary citizens, underscoring the urgent need for continued international support for Ukraine in resisting this aggression.
